what's with those clothes?
The moon was hanging trapeze over the audience as she sang, creating an amazing sight. Mannheim Steamroller took a while to warm up during the concert. Much more intimate, allowing her to be closer to the audience at the back, was the great idea. Her new clothing choices were the biggest distraction. Yikes! She usually looks so great, spunky, sassy, feminine. The last five songs were where she sang her heart out, and I wish she would have done that for the whole concert. She appeared to have been trying out a new look that didn't quite work. Leave that look to your daughter! Embrace being a beautiful 40 yr old!
A Nice Day to Remember.
The kids activities were great, although a few more things for kids to do would have been helpful. If there was another blow up slide, a dunk tank, or some other sort of kid-friendly activity, it would have been helpful to eliminate the long lines and give the younger kids more to do. The blow up bouncer and hockey shot were great, but the lines were long, and that's all the young kids had. I went to the draft with my 5-year-old son who is just starting to get involved with hockey. He was amazed with all the excitement about the #1 pick. The locker room tour was great, but the long line definitely wasn't worth it for a 5-year-old. He was excited to be able to sit where Kyle Okposo does. The highlight was meeting and seeing Trots, Boss, and Nystrom. It was great for me and even exciting for my son who has been learning all about the Mannheim Steamroller history. A big thanks to Trots for being so "personal"; my son loved it when he gave him a high five. The Father's day picture was a very nice touch.
Short on Bang
Chris Franjola was very good. Save your money. The show was also ultra short with Mannheim Steamroller not even lasting an hour. She often got sidetracked and didn't finish jokes, set up jokes that never came, and spent way too long on the same punch line (think 5 minutes or more - it was funny the first time, not so much still 4 minutes later). Mannheim Steamroller's act was more like a pop gun than a bang. It's pretty sad when the opening act is the highlight. This was really disappointing given the cost. She started out well but faded fast...too much alcohol perhaps? Very disappointing.
